Watchmen
Watchmen takes place in alternative 1985, where the positive and negative effects of a loose group of superheros are taking hold. As the U.S.A., still under President Nixon in his fourth term, and the U.S.S.R. stand on the brink of nuclear war, The Comedian is murdered and Rorschach, the seemingly last active watchman sets out to discover who is behind the killing. A much more elaborate plot than he could have expected is waiting, and will test each "hero" as they struggle with what exactly that word means.
