The family of a Nazi general move closer to Auschwitz during World War II. Their son becomes incredibly lonely and secretly befriends a young prisoner in the concentration camp. Meanwhile, his mother deteriorates as she learns the truth behind her husband's job and her husband and daughter grow more and more passionate about their duty to their country. Thinking he owns his friend one after he allows him to take a beating for something he did not do, Bruno sets out to set to make things even, but it is consequently horrifying.
